Today we are thanking Isabel’s Market and Eatery and Garnet Lewis for supporting Venetian Fest 2023. Isabel’s and Garnet want to give back to the community who have been so supportive of them. All four of Isabel’s owners recognize that without the support of the community, they would not be in business. They committed to being a year-round business in a resort community, which isn’t easy.
As business owners, they get asked frequently to donate and support many of the events and happenings in our community. “We would love to support everything!” stated Garn. When Cow Hill stepped back from Venetian, Rotary recognized that this well-loved and wildly popular event needed to continue. As a Rotarian herself, Garn voted to take on Venetian Fest 2023 and is the Committee Co-Chair.
Isabel’s is committed to the environment which is why they operate in a low-waste kitchen. You may not know that all the plates and utensils at Isabel’s are compostable. So, it was a natural way to help Venetian Fest by donating all the compostable cups for the event.
Garn and her wife, Vicky, came to Saugatuck 8 years ago this Memorial Day Weekend. Their friends had invited them for a visit to Saugatuck a year earlier on the 4th of July. “The place was packed! People everywhere, enjoying the day and taking in the Art Festival,” said Garn, “We loved it!” As a military kid, Garnet moved around a lot. “I wasn’t born here, but I got here as fast as I could. I got to choose Saugatuck as home.” She and Vicky love it here. They felt very welcome from their first visit and are thrilled to call Saugatuck home. They also share the wonderful memory of being married at The Kirby.
